Training on “Mushroom cultivation and spawn production for women empowerment”

 

A seven days training program under Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) and AICRP on Mushroom entitled “Mushroom cultivation and spawn production for women empowerment” was conducted from 14 to 20th July 2016. There were 16 participants from various districts of Meghalaya i.e. East Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills, Jaintia Hills and Ri Bhoi. This training program included lectures, demonstrations and practical’s on Oyster, Button, Shiitake mushroom cultivation and also spawn production using low cost technology. Certificates and kits were distributed by Dr. S.V. Ngachan, Director, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region and Dr. Satish Chandra (HOD, Plant Protection) during the valedictory function held on 20th July 2016. Dr. S.V. Ngachan emphasised on entrepreneurship development among the farmers for reaping greater benefits from mushroom cultivation. Resource persons of the program- Dr. S.V.
